While we were at Bonnie and Scott's for Christmas, we went up to Amelia Island north of the city on the Atlantic coast. While there, we visited Fort Clinch State Park which houses the historic civil war fort of the same name. As we were walking around the ramparts facing the ocean, we kept hearing the grass and underbrush rustling around. Gemma looked around and spotted an armadillo sauntering along the embankment. This was the first armadillo that we have ever seen on the hoof in the wild.
