As Bonnie would say, we have gone over to the dark side. Our three year old laptop had it's wireless card fry making it useless to have other than in the upstairs computer room. This was a real problem since Gemma uses the computer extensively in her volunteer work with the Animal Shelter. So we had a choice -- invest close to $300 to have the old laptop fixed or buy a new computer.
We had been talking about a Mac for a while, and decided to bite the bullet and make the conversion now. So yesterday, we went out to American TV & Electronics and bought one. It set up really easily and, except for a user error, hooked right into our home network. The old laptop still works, but it is relegated to being tethered to the network by an ethernet cable. I'll still use it for some web surfing and for several Windows based programs that will take a while to figure out how to use on the Mac.
