The new home is almost ready! In a matter of about seven weeks, it has gone from a pile of dirt in an empty lot to an almost complete house. Once the outside was painted and the sod was laid, we really began to think of it as our new home.
We will be down in The Villages the week of August 8th to close on the house. We will drive down with our cat, Annie -- which should be an adventure in itself -- and then close on Thursday, the 11th. Then on Friday, the new furniture will be delivered, cable installed, pest service guy out, and a couple of other appointments to get ourselves established in The Villages. At that point, Gemma will be a permanent Florida resident. I'll then fly back on Sunday and remain in Rockford until the end of September to finish off work.
Neither of us is looking forward to being separated for six or so weeks, but that is the price we pay to get started in our new lives.
